I needed this book more than this book needed me. When I started reading it I didn’t realize how much the content would stick with me. Or make me cry. I haven’t cried when reading a book in a while. It isn’t because I am closed-hearted, but because my heart has been exposed from things in my life the tear well has pretty much dried up.

Until now. Until this book.

I asked myself why did I cry when reading this one book? I could have cried with several others, but this book had me from the first page to the very last. The mother-daughter plot stuck in my head. My mind wanted to understand every inch of this book and all the words that made it truly special.

I swiped back and forth three times wishing it wasn’t over. Requesting this book from Netgalley, little did I know this book would be one of the best book’s Amy has written to date. One of my top reads this year.

I love books about familial generations of strong women coming together uniting as one. It helps remind me that the past is different than the present, but the feelings and story line can run along side each other to make something uniquely special about the characters.

“No matter how messy things got, they had

people who loved them,

who watched out for them,

who would help them clean those messes up.”

Like most of my reviews, I don’t want to giveaway the plot. I want people to keep an open mind and heart allowing their own perception to weave its own journey through each page turn, much like my own did.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book. I truly felt inspired to finish it within a short period of time because I was invested in the story and the characters, and all the filler of gooey cheesy grilled cheese…. damn that was torture!

I love books like this one. The ones that lock my mind and center my heart.
