Rachel Van Dyken
Release Date: June 5th 2018
I would like to thank #Netgalley and #Skyscape for an ARC of Dirty Exes. It’s hard for me to write reviews when I didn’t connect with the book. Trying to brush past all the things I didn’t like about it, there are some wonderful parts to this book.
Dirty Exes is my second Rachel Van Dyken book, and it started off really well. Actually fantastic. I loved the premise of Blaire and Isla running their own company trying to catch cheaters. Very millennial-esque and very woman empowerment. Blaire’s comedic thoughts and circumstances were pretty hilarious and I loved how her friendship with Isla was founded.
I don’t know what happened, but somewhere by the thirteenth chapter, I wasn’t so interested anymore. I started piecing together the story with Fraternize, and immediately lost interest, which disappointed me. A great premise, only to be let down by one girl, two guys, and a plot I’ve already read about.
I wasn’t into Jessie and didn’t feel the connection between him and Blaire. Their past didn’t matter to me, probably because I was team Collin all the way.
Total underdog lover over here!
